Tobacco Free Schools and Companies Project launched in Morocco

A large-scale tobacco control project themed ‘Tobacco-free Schools and Companies’ has been launched in Morocco on 28th November 2007. The project is sponsored by Association Lalla Salma de lutte contre le Cancer (ALSC) and aims to prevent cancers caused by tobacco. Another aim of the project is to increase knowledge of the health hazards of tobacco.

Before dying from smoking related lung cancer, the 29 year old Erphacksand Kinyua Mureithi, urged his fellow youth in Kenya to desist from taking up cigarette smoking.

Gambia -Editorial: Tobacco and Human Health

A recent editorial in Gambia’s Daily Observer highlighted the growing nicotine addiction among youths, the economic costs of tobacco and the health consequences of smoking tobacco including cancers and commended the President's move to make public places no-smoking areas.
