Thank you Trish for taking the time to be with us today. May I ask you to introduce yourself?
Trish Cotter: My
first ever job after University (BSc) was with the Victorian Quit
Campaign (over 20 years ago). It was just being set up and I was the second
person to be employed. My first role was as a project assistant and I
expected to be at Quit Victoria for 12 months and then move on to something
else. Thirteen years later I finally moved on having had many
different roles and seen lots of exciting changes such as banning tobacco
advertising and the first well funded mass media campaigns.
Thank you Terry for accepting our rendez-vous.
May I ask you to introduce yourself ?
Terry Reid: Hello, my name is Terry Reid, and I'm the Manager of
the Washington State Department of Health's Tobacco Prevention and
Control Program. The program is new for Washington, just under two
years old, and is funded by a portion of the money the state received
from settling a lawsuit against the major tobacco companies. I have
worked in public health with state and local government for more than
20 years. My interest in tobacco issues stems from my background in
substance abuse treatment and prevention. I also enjoy being in a
position where the action is.
Thank you Scott for accepting our rendez-vous.
May I ask you to introduce yourself ?
Scott Leischow: I became Chief of the Tobacco Control Research
Branch in the Behavioral Research Program, Division of Cancer Control
and Population Sciences at NCI in July 2000. Prior to taking the NCI
position, I was an Associate Professor of Public Health at the College
of Public Health, University of Arizona, and the Director of the
Arizona Program for Nicotine and Tobacco Research.
