The New Haven Independent

Another very interesting story about a local internet based "newspaper", the New Haven Independent.

E-mail and blog for everybody

I see the day not far into the future when every employee is given his or her own blog at the same time they get an email account.  I also see a day soon coming where companies that don’t blog will be held in suspicion because of their apparently closed cultures.

What about our elected representatives and all the commissions, committees, councils?

Rachel enters the blogosphere

Rachelpritchett Rachel Pritchett, reporter for the Bainbridge Islander has started a blog: Bainbridge conversation.
Good for you Rachel and welcome in the world of blogs.
Since you know I had asked for a long time that the Kistap Sun starts blogging I congratulate you for being the first to do it or are there other new bloggers among the Sun's journalists?
The next step will be for you to start podcasting as already do many journalists: since they -often- carry a recorder and do record interviews, why not share them with the public via podcasting?
Voice of Bainbridge has done it since its creation: I think it would be a great added value to your blog and your reporting. May I also suggest that you start using a digital camera? A blog with picture is infinitely more engaging.

How long until we get vlogs?

1_rocket_vlogHere is rocketboom. I recommend the segment where Amanda praises "old" volvos.

Yourhub.com

Bluffton_pictureThe Rocky Mountain News is an affiliate of the Scripps Network. As is the Kitsap Sun. They are starting an interesting web-based project called Yourhub.com. You can read about it in the Online Journalism Review. I hope the Sun will try to emulate the RMN and start using blogs and rss: there are a lot of local voices that want to be heard and our local newspapers are not providing the adequate on line forums. Also interesting, the Northwest Voice and the News Record that posts on its site reader's submitted articles and the Bluffton Today in South Carolina that provides blogs to readers (the picture comes from their site). This is what we should get! Closer to home, visit urbanvancouver.
