Tobacco Control Conferences in Eritrea
From July 9-11, 2009, two conferences were held in Eritrea and both are associated with IDRC/RITC-supported projects: (1) Tobacco Free Schools Initiative (supported by RITC’s African Tobacco Situational Analysis Initiative-ATSA) and (2) Tobacco Use by Eritrean Health Professionals (supported by RITC
through its most recent grants competition to support implementation of
tobacco control policies in relation to the Framework Convention on
Tobacco Control).
An important outcome of
these meetings will be the development of a Strategic Plan of Action
for Tobacco Control in Eritrea 2009-2012. The Strategic Action Plan is
currently under development, based on the research results of these two
studies and recommendations by meeting participants. Please consult
