Lost in the controversy around the recent ad campaign in France is the very important fact it is a pro bono campaign. Another excellent pro bono clip was the one filmed in 1991 with soccer star Johan Cruyff juggling with a cigarette pack that we recycled with great success during a past World Cup. With the upcoming World Cup in Africa it would make sense to have a set of different clips from different continents that could be given away to TV channels (and movie theaters) to air as public service announcements.
Of course they would also be made available on YouTube and other internet services. Who is going to take such an initiative? WHO? The Bloomberg Initiative? The French team that just produced the ad everyone talks about? Strangely enough the Johan Cruyff's clip is hard to find on YouTube and has sometines been removed: I wonder why. I cannot imagine Johann Cruyff does not want this video aired as much as possible? It was a pro bono campaign so why would the ad agency protest? The Health Department of Catalonia has it on its site but what is the traffic compared to YouTube? Please bring Johan back on YouTube with a good quality clip (and versions in various languages) and produce a bundle of new ones for the World Cup in South Africa.
