Building capacity to introduce pictorial health warnings on tobacco products in Madagascar Office National de Lutte Antitabac (OFNALAT)
This project aims to strengthen the legislation on packaging and labelling of tobacco products, with the inclusion of pictorial health warnings in particular. This will require raising awareness and capacity-building to enact new legislation and utilize advocacy and partnership building. Key strategies include raising awareness of the need for graphic health warnings, developing appropriate images, drafting legal instruments and securing endorsement and validation by relevant ministries/experts and tobacco control NGOs, introduction of graphic warnings and monitoring and evaluation of their impact.
