Find below the description of the goals of the New Venture Fund for Global Policy and Advocacy (NVF for GPA) that was awarded a $1,329,671 grant by the Gates Foundation. I now cannot find it any longer on their site.
Global Policy and Advocacy
The (NVF for GPA) advances the work of the global policy and advocacy communities by providing targeted and timely grants to domestic and international projects that are focused on global health and development issues, family planning efforts and tobacco control initiatives.
Specifically, the New Venture Fund for Global Policy and Advocacy funds projects that meet the following criteria:
- Strengthen global health and development efforts by building public awareness, improving policies, supporting policy-relevant research, advocating for additional funding, and encouraging networking and improved communications among the global health and development community.
- Support strategic family planning projects that contribute to the achievement of the Family Planning Summit goal (to provide access to lifesaving family planning information, services, and supplies to an additional 120 million women in the world’s poorest countries by 2020), through more effective programs and policies, and through increased visibility and resources.
- Support projects that contribute to the implementation and enforcement of evidence-based tobacco control policy change in Asia and Africa, specifically for four priority policies: tobacco tax, protection from secondhand smoke, advertising bans, and graphic warning labels/plain packaging and strategic projects that contribute to tobacco control efforts in Asia and Africa.
