The kenya tobacco control alliance (KETCA) held a student centered tobacco control forum earlier this week. The purpose for the forum that brought students from both public and private universities was to sensitize the students on the dangers of tobacco use, to gain support for the enforcement of shisha ban and ultimately, to bring together students to deliberate on how they can be meaningfully engaged in the fight against tobacco.
The forum focused on tobacco control forum bringing students from various universities together to deliberate on how students can be meaningfully involved in tobacco control. Students who participated came from Nairobi University, Africa Nazarene University, Daystar University, Kenyatta University, and Daystar University.
KETCA has been very active in rallying support to get the shisha ban upheld and enforced in Kenya, as well as enhance tobacco control efforts in the region. Similar meetings have been held by the organization in recent years. In attendance was the KETCA chairman Shunza Gitali, and board member Thomas Lindi.
