I had created this blog to show what this type of communication could bring to City Hall.
The budget I asked for (a pitiful hundreds of dollars) was blocked by the Head of the Planning Department and none of the members of the Commission fought to bypass his bureaucratic opposition.
Despite this setback this is obviously the way of the future and I am certain the time will come when each entity will have its dedicated blog.
For now the City of Bainbridge is still binded by a totally obsolete website and a team of 5 or 6 permanent IT persons (the head at $100k per annum!): dinosaurus bureaucraticus.
This inertia is very convenient for the planning department that can continue to operate mostly in secrecy pretending to abide by its public information requirements via very small notices posted on lots to be developed and meetings at impossible hours with a cardinal rule: nothing on line.
While -of course- everything should be on line.
