Un homme et une femme de Pierre Barouh (lyrics) and Francis Lai (Music) and Samba Saravah. Samba Saravah's music and lyrics are by Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes with the French version by Pierre Barouh included in the movie of Claude Lelouch that won the palmes d'or in Cannes in 1966 and the oscar for best foreign film in 1967.
Un homme et une femme's song is famous for the badabadaba part... Here is the post of a blogger addicted to the song.
The text of Pierre Barouh about Samba is very close to what I think about songs in general: he says he loves chansons and we do. For many people "songs" are somehow like pulp literature, enjoyed privately but not really celebrated as cultural icons except by the fact they can be extremely profitable.
What I want to do is share with you (and an american audience?) a selection of French songs I especially like.
