Finally, we arrived in Bangkok (Saturday night).
We were a little bit delayed at the airport because of immigration and health issues.
We had to carry our ‘certificate of fitness’ (the yellow fever vaccination card) and show that apart from our visas we were healthy enough to enter the country.
When we got to the immigration desk we were turned back to first go to the health control board desk to be duly certified. It was then we discovered that one of us had lost her ‘certificate of fitness’. There was nothing to be done except to be vaccinated again. This costs her twenty dollars! So much to pay for a lost document. After that were certified fit health wise to step out of the airport and into Bangkok proper.

The ride from the airport to the hotel was smooth. However, we
had a problem of communication with the driver. It all started with the
issue of paying the toll fee at the highway toll gate.

The driver was friendly and full of laughter. He taps me on the shoulder from time to time as if we’ve known each other for ages. Thai people are very friendly and courteous, that I deduced from his gestures.
Now, we moved into the hotel. Got our rooms and thus look forward to the start of COP2 meeting and activities.
