#35: Easy Being Green at the Car Wash

Did you know that each year, average citizens inadvertently dump more motor oil into coastal waters than oil tankers do?  There is one thing you can do to reduce oil and other contaminants from being flushed into our coastal waters. Go to the carwash instead of washing your car by hand. Carwashes have to send their dirty water to a wastewater treatment plant for processing, while the storm drains on your street empty directly into the nearest streams. Oil and other car pollutants can be toxic to fish eggs and smother aquatic life by creating a film on the water’s surface.  LISTEN
