Apple Computer recently joined Dell, HP and other companies in providing free recycling for newly purchased computers. Apple also promised that no hazardous materials will be exported from recycled computers. A recent estimate found that less than 10% of discarded computers are recycled and as much as 80% of collected e-waste is shipped to China, and other countries, where crude dismantling poisons the people, land, air, and water.
