Several presentations relating to `hard to reach`communities. Clearly a problem in virtually all countries. A lack of evidence on this subject reminded me that we (those implementing tobacco control policies etc) often carry out intiatives but don`t get round to writing them up for others to learn from or to build the evidence base.
Also in this session we heard about the economic slavery that the tobacco industry engages in. Where poor farmers are working long hours for virtually no return. (This subject is also a feature of a new CRUK DVD The Tobacco trap`- the truth about economic and tobacco`which will be advertised on Globalink shortly or see www.cancerresearchuk.org/gapp/fundingcommittees/tag)
Finally we heard about Sweden and tobacco consumption. Following on from the RCP Harm reduction report of last week our Swedish colleagues were adamant that SNUS and other oral tobacco should not be made more available. This debate will run and run......
