Media Venture Collective is a fund of the Rudolf Steiner Foundation, in partnership with a super-group of activist organizations, focused on aggregating tax-deductible donations and grants, small and large, from viewers like you into "program-related investments" in high-impact, public-interest media enterprises.
It's a new approach to financial mobilization, proactive and constructive; much like a community foundation (for the "virtual" community of global citizens concerned about media) that thinks like a venture fund.
It's animated by a social network that acts as a nervous system, collective intelligence, and fundraising tool.
Our mission is a revolution in our media ecosystems, so that they serve the interests of the public, on whose commons (e.g. the airwaves) they depend.
We're here to incubate "mammals that eat dinosaur eggs", enterprises that can be to monopoly media what Linux is to Microsoft: open, citizen-powered, accessible, "disruptive" public utilities that work better than media driven solely by the profit motive.
So, if you're tired of complaining about "the media", don't leave here without digging deeper, supporting one of our great projects, and/or signing up for our (infrequent) newsletter.
