Dear Darby,
My name is Lauren Selman and I recently graduated with departmental citation and honors from UC Berkeley in Conservation Resource Studies and Theater Performance Studies. Shannon Jackson, the Dean of my department, referred me to you through this blog because for my senior thesis project I wrote about the environmental impact of filmmaking. I am really interested in pursuing this topic into my professional life and she suggested I talk to you especially because of your magnificant work with the Oscars. I am helping with the greening of the film LUNA, Participant Productions upcoming project with director Deepa Metha, and will be on the panel at the AIFC Symposium in New Mexico in August. I am currently in the Canadian Rockies until June 16th, leading outdoor active travel trips with Backroads but will be returning to the Bay Area. I am leading a trip next week between Tuesday and Friday, but if you email me I will respond upon my return. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
