Denise Sullivan about the campaigns of the Cancer Council Western Australia

Philippe Boucher: Hello Denise. Nice to have you back for a rendez-vous since our previous cyber-interview took place on March 31, 1999. You are still very much involved in tobacco control. Can you update the professional information about yourself?

Denise Sullivan: Thank you Philippe.  I am pleased to say I am still very involved in tobacco control, although now working in the non-government sector.  In August 2000, I took up the inaugural position of Director of The Cancer Council Western Australia’s Tobacco Program (known then as ‘Target 15’).

Western Australia: Don't smoke at home or in your car.

A new campaign by The Cancer Council Western Australia’s Make Smoking History program will encourage parents to make their home and cars smoke free to protect their children from the dangers of second hand smoke. The TV ads will run from May 27 to June 23. WATCH

Zita Roberts: If I could stop one person (2006)

Zita Roberts, a mother of 3 had lung cancer because of her smoking. She testified in a series of TV ads ( Sept/Oct 2006) produced in Western Australia with the tagline: quitting is hard, not quitting is harder. The campaign was also aired in 2007 in New South Wales. Her story (pdf format). WATCH

Zita died in February 2007, she was only 38.
