This is the view outside our dining room. Our apartment Orvitales were three little apartments that they had rented out.

This is where we ate for breakfast and lunch. We usually always had a very light dinner or just a midnight snack because we would stay out walking until about midnight.

Ponte de L'Aseo

Ponte de L'Aseo

The Bridge that crossed the Cannaregio (where we lived) was called Ponte de Guglie. We lived in the ghetto district. Not the ghetto but the true ghetto with synagogues and orthodox Jews. The ghetto district in Venice is like the suburban area. There are seven story high apartment complexes. The streets are much wider and it is not really a tourist attraction so we really kind of experienced the neighborhood feeling.

Yarn shop

We found this yarn shop while we were exploring around our neighborhood. I thought of Churchmouse as i took it. Much to my disappointment the shop was closed. It was really bright and hot so we went further down the street and got some gelato. YUMM.

I love the color of this building. What i liked about the ghetto was that the buildings were often painted in bright colors.

Across San Marcualo square

Across San Marcualo square

For the first day in Venice we decided to get acquainted to it by taking a boat ride. The nearest vaporetto stop was San Marcualo and this is what you see across it.

I thought it would be fun to take different pictures of windows.

Gondola

Gondola

We never rode in a gondola because they are highly expensive. It was fun though to look at them. They're very stable, because even when there was wake on the grand canal they never went tippy.

The street

The street that we lived on. I was trying to get it without tourist but I was at the bottom of the bridge. Those are not Italians (to my knowledge).

Gondolier and tourists

Gondolier and tourists

The Gondolier had been talking with us trying to get us to go on a ride but the minimum fee for all of us girls in one boat for three kilometer (about 45 minutes) was 80 euros and that is really expensive if you're only doing the Grand Canal. I think it would be much more fun to go through the side canals and have music but that's an additional fee.

There is so little greenery in Venice that a garden seemed amazing.

The canals of Venezia is the only way that one can get around other than by foot. Garbage boats, police, ambulances, and carrier boats can be seen in the early morning or during the day. The Grand canal is one of the main freeways.
