Jean-Yves Nau, who died on November 8, was an extraordinary French public health journalist. I assume he was largely unknown in the English only speaking/reading world as he essentially wrote in French about medicine and public health issues for many, many years for Le Monde (1980 to 2009), and then Slate.fr (2009) and other media and since 2011 via an amazing blog 'Journalisme et santé publique' ('Journalism and public health'). He was especially concerned with tobacco issues (that are so often ignored) and felt that vaping represented a magnificent opportunity to help smokers quit using combustible cigarettes and drastically reduce the risks to their health. He reported via hundreds of posts about e-cigarettes and the -still ongoing- fight to have public health professionals and decision makers include them as an integral part of tobacco control policies. His persistent support for tobacco harm reduction will be terribly missed. I hope that all the posts he devoted to those issues, what he named "La révolution des volutes" (The Vape revolution) could be collected and published, a post-mortem tribute to a a great public health journalist and advocate. RIP dear Jean-Yves.
