My name is Philippe Boucher. I was actively involved in tobacco control from July 1986 to the beginning of 2010. After that I only kept posting from time to time on my blog Tobacco Control in Africa that aggregates news from all African countries. Since 1999 and my arrival in the United States I had been working on line for UICC-Globalink or the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, organizations that supported rendez-vous, my cyberinterviews with tobacco control advocates from all over the world and my podcasts GLK radio. I explain here why I started THR rendez-vous in September 2017 after learning the creation by Derek Yach of the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World. I joined the Foundation in June 2018 and felt forced to resign six months later after having been bullied.
I care for all the smokers who say they quit smoking combustibles thanks to vaping and I'd like to clarify the arguments that are put forward against or for vaping.
I wrote three books about tobacco control: People and issues in tobacco control (2002), 101 motivations pour arrêter de fumer (2008) and Honest feedback, questions to the Gates Foundation (in 2011). In 1993 I translated into French (with Anne Charrière) The last Puff, by Farquhar and Spiller, as J'ai arrêté de fumer. The French version included original illustrations by my late friend Jean-Claude Marol.
