I am under the impression the people now using the ferry are taken for a ride. An opinion piece in the PI puts the responsibility with the legislature that has let down the ferry riders (because they are too weak and mostly silent a lobby?).
It looks like the only way for ferry riders to get a fairer price is to run an initiative that would roll back part of what was taken away thanks to Tim Eyman while reembering there was then a majority in Kitsap county in favor of them. How do people feel now? I also would be curious to get an update on the figures that were computed by Puget Sound Regional Council (pdf) in February 2001 comparing the price of a ride on the ferry and a ride on metro public transit. How many signatures are needed to put an initiative on the ballot?
