A visitor wishes there were more audio-recordings like the two most recent ones. The solution is easy: if more (a few) people were starting to use MP3 recorders to record events they attend, Voice of Bainbridge would be very happy to host their audio-files :)
The recorder pictured here costs $30 and you just have to click two buttons to make it work (and install one battery). Give it a try :)

Should Hildebrand and Eriksen be connected?

The Bainbridge Buzz is organizing a poll on its website. When I voted (No), 51visitors had voted (40 in favor). I found very irritating the way the Chamber of Commerce is taking for granted that most of its members are in favor of getting rid of the small green space that exists now. I find none of their pseudo-arguments convincing: the reality is that there is a connection via the parking lots and it is a sufficient one.

What future for the trees on Grow Avenue?

The rumor is that most of the trees along Grow Avenue are going to be cut down to make space for a sidewalk. This is unfortunately a very possible prospect (if we are not vigilant and vocal) as it happened before: the public works and the planning department have no consideration or love for trees. If they are in the way they can just be cut down (same for the power lines people that are absolutely not supervised and cut as they please). The right thing to do about our trees on Grow Avenue is to respect them all and if there is to be a sidewalk (I am not so sure we need a traditional sidewalk as I would prefer an improved surface that would respect the rural feel of the street) it should go around the existing trees, not cut them down. Of course this solution goes against the engineer's manic obsession with the straight line.

The community forestry commission wants to hear from you

The Community Forestry Commission (pdf) is holding an open house session on Tuesday September 12 from 7 to 9 PM. I am not sure there is much to gain but if a few good people wish to attend. Maybe you can also email your suggestions? So many of our previous suggestions have been totally ignored it's hard to persist but what else is there to do? All my best wishes to the people who want to attend. If someone wants to take a digital mp3 recorder contact me and I'll lend you one.
