The Islander publishes an article about the fate of Bainbridge Island TV. A few years ago, I had a few meetings with BITV people about developing a local radio station (as Vashon Island does with Voice of Vashon). They did not want it and went exclusively for TV. I think it was a big strategic mistake as radio would reach much more people for a reduced investment. The present crisis should be an opportunity to revive a local radio project and to operate TV production with volunteers at a much lower cost.
As for the past/present management of BITV, one can wonder why there are no published annual reports on the website, no minutes of board meetings. On the page presenting the board of directors, Mickey Molnaire's name does not appear although she is supposedly part of it. The information seems quite minimal for a non-profit organization.
I share the skepticism about the real audience of BITV and certainly recording the COBI's sessions could be done at a much lower cost. I also wonder what the audience of such recordings would be/is. Who is spending time watching endless city council meetings? More useful would be real reporting with short segments and interviews. More questions and answers sessions. That could also be produced (in video and audio) at a much lower cost than what BITV was charging.
